Thank you! Rubys ride golf day 2019 – What an amazing success

Our 1st Ruby’s Ride Fundraiser charity golf day, BBQ and evening entertainment including a charity auction was a huge success. The event was held at Redlibbetts  golf course in Ash, Kent. The course itself is in a beautiful condition. Golfers who have played all over the world were commenting on how great the course looked and played. Arriving with black clouds looming overhead, team Ruby’s Ride got to work setting everything up ready. Emma and Ben had thought of every last detail to ensure our wonderful supporters had a fantastic day.

So gradually the teams arrived…..18 four balls teams David Harris Redlibbetts General Manager and his team were superb in making sure everything was just right for the players and guests. So once booked in and receiving their score cards the players tucked into some freshly made sandwiches and refreshments to get energy levels up for the tough competition ahead. As each team arrived at the tee, a team photo was taken and the players thanked for their very kind attendance and support. The teams tee’ d off on either the first or tenth tee and completed 18 holes and with mother nature at her finest, the first 8 teams got drenched!!……….not a problem for our hardened participants. Team Ruby’s Ride kept up with play in the course buggies and witnessed some  brilliant golf. There was a longest drive, nearest the pin and beat the pro competition on the way round with winners receiving cut Crystal trophies in a presentation later in the evening. The sun eventually shined, temperatures rose and there was only one thing for it……….flag down the beer cart which was circulating all day.

So with everyone finished by around 6pm there was time for a quick pint, hot shower and freshly cooked barbeque whilst the score cards were collected and verified. David then announced the winners of each trophy and they were handed to each player by Team Ruby’s Ride.

Steven the magician who had been having fun playing with people’s minds then held the charity auction with lots including an annual membership of Redlibbetts  golf course, chauffeur driven Rolls Royce or Bentley to a top London restaurant , beauty product hamper, golf lessons with a pro and a tandem paragliding flight to name but a few. Thanks to our very generous supporters, all of the lots were sold and it was then time to get the party started. So we had a fantastic time with an amazing group of kind hearted supporters, all of whom are now a part of a brighter future for a lovely little girl and others like her. Raffle ticket prizes were handed out followed by a short speech which would hopefully explain a little more about Cerebral Palsy and why Ruby’s Ride was formed. After some more boogying and perhaps a tipple or two, it was time to say our goodbyes, thank everybody for their kindness and head off home.

Ruby’s Ride would like to thank everyone who attended our first event from the bottom of our hearts. We would also like to thank David and his team at Redlibbetts Golf Club for their wonderful hospitality and fantastic food. Huge thanks also to the individuals and companies who very kindly donated to our auction and raffle prizes.

Lastly and on a personal note I would like to thank Team Ruby’s Ride……Seb  (the pony) carers Craig, Debs and family. Kelly for all of your behind the scenes emailing and calling in the build up to this event. Bob’s, Harry, Lily, Rosie, James, Abs and Kev for your help throughout the day. Emma and Ben…….unstoppable!!…….your planning and preparation flawless as always. Lottie………for being such a good girl (although you wouldn’t let me eat your chicken nuggets) And of course Ruby. For working so hard every day and getting that little bit stronger. Watching you grow is what inspires team Ruby’s Ride to keep pushing boundaries so that you can too.

All the best Steve Rose
